What WordPress Plugins Can Do
One thing I love about having wordpress as the platform to create squeeze pages is that I can benefit from the thousands of plugins available in the wordpress database to enhance my site functions easily, even for free!
- For example, if I wanted to know the number of visitors I have visiting a squeeze page in my site, I can install statistics plugins like cystats, or statpress (there are many available).
- If I wanted to “hide” specific “secret” pages from the search engines I can install a plugin to add meta tags to hide those pages I don’t want to show on the search engines. One great plugin is called platinum seo pack which allow you to add noindex and nofollows on your pages. This could be great for your thank you pages or download pages where you redirect your subscribers to.
- If I wanted to add videos, I can install the ‘flash video player’ plugin to insert videos without complicated coding. Usualy it will just look like this:
[.flashvideo file=http://myvideo /]
(Here’s an example of a wordpress video squeeze page using the plugin)
or if you use viper quick tags (a plugin that inserts youtube videos), it will just look like this:
[.youtube] http://youtube.com/watch?v=kdftj48
You can even specify the width and height of your video by appending it on the code like .
What’s the advantage of working like this instead of pasting the embed code? Well, the embed codes can be long and can be messy. And since it’s got a lot of html tags, switching from the visual and html view in the wordpress editor screen can cause the code to be stripped. Meaning wordpress might delete some tags.
Working on shortcode like the one above simply produces a much cleaner code.
- Another great plugin is a wp-easy-uploader. If I wanted to upload a few files to my wordpress domain without opening ftp, I can use this plugin and upload files within my wordpress panel.
- You’ll also be able to take advantage of gallery plugins to display images of your products if you want to, or maybe install twitter plugins, or google sitemaps plugins.
These are just few benefits of using wordpress – great plugins that can quickly enhance your site functionalities, moreover they are free (and updated by the authors).
Did You Know
Did you know that some enhancements, like for example, a statistic plugin require you to create a database in your host server?
If you were to do it all raw and install these plugins for your html sites, you might still need to do the techie pre-requisite stuff before making it all functional. Like creating a database or installing other scripts in your server. This could be a complex task for the non-techie.
That’s why wordpress and wordpress plugins are so great because they do all the pre-requisite techie steps for you beforehand and all you have to do is “plug” the plug in!
Another great thing about plugins is that most of them have their own “Dashboard” menus or panel boxes which makes things much easier to use the plugin – pointing and clicking to trigger certain functions.
Take Advantage Of It
These are just some of the tiny benefits of you will experience when you use wordpress and it’s plugins. There are still a lot of plugins out there that are geared to ineternet marketers, for your squeeze pages and sales pages. That’s why the WP Spire theme is the perfect theme to take advantage of wordpress’ capabalities and it’s awesome plugins!
