Dlguard is an online solution that allows you to secure and deliver your digital goods, be it an ebook, or software, or a zip file, etc. It also allows you to set up expiry dates of the download page, and if for some reason the customer missed to download the product, you can resend the download email message to the customer via your admin panel.

Although the security feature is the primary reason others choose DLGuard, it wasn’t the main reason for me.

The main reason I got DLGuard(v4) was … the signup form for DLGuard’s membership module requires only two customer fields! While other membership script requires a lot form fields to be filled out when you register for some membership access, like address, phone number, country, etc., DLGuard only requires the email address and password. This for me does the job for what I needed.

I don’t want the intimidating long signup forms for anybody who buys a product of mine, only two will do. It makes the customer experience much easier and it’s really what I only needed. I notice the same experience when I bought other people’s product powered by DLGuard and they only had two fields for me to fill out and it was simple and easy and gives you a hassle-free experience.

Sure, you may want to require other customer fields, but if you want simplicity DLGuard does that job superbly.

Not to mention that DLGuard also has a shopping cart module, can set discount coupons, is easier to setup, and is connected to the customer’s payment info so that anytime a customer requests a refund, it’s easy to cancel and deny his access to your membership site later.

Plus another feature that I chose DLGuard is it’s ease of integration with Getresponse!

So if customer buys your product and you want him to be added to your Getresponse list, you only need to put some of your Getresponse info while setting up the product and any customer who buys your product will be automatically be added to your list without him filling another form!

Moreover, what makes this product seen as above the others is the phenomenal support given by Sam Stephens - the owner! Seriously, look at the DLGuard forum, almost every support thread has been answered by him! If you want install help, just ask away.

One thing I don’t like though, are the default templates… but that’s just me. Anyway, it an easy job to deal with since DLGuard is template-base which means you can use your own template and just insert the necessary DLGuard variables you want to display.

So yeah, DLGuard - requires only two fields, great security feature, membership module, shopping cart module, template base, easy, great support hmm … what else…

Here’s DLGuard’s site.

(Oh, there are a lot more features I didn’t mention here since this isn’t really meant to be review only my feedback.)

Get an autoresponder that delivers the confirmation email almost immediately.

Some autoresponders deliver the confirmation email like 20 minutes to 1 hour which is a no, no, for me, especially in the IM arena. Aweber, Getresponse, and the autoresponders running on Parabots software delivers the confirmation emails almost immediately if not instantly.

Get an autoresponder that puts your messages to the recepients Inbox by default, not in their Junk Mail.

Some autoresponders gets the email messages delivered to the recepient’s Junk Mail by default, even if it’s Gmail! One advantage of signing up with “popular” autoresponders like Getresponse or Aweber is that your emails at most times, gets delivered to the recepients Inbox by default. Although I noticed some people’s emails gets delivered to the recepients Junk Mail from the said autoresponders, doesn’t happen as much as the others! It’s not even that often, but I noticed 8). Maybe it’s the message content…

Get an autoresponder that gives you unlimited autoresponders!

Well, kinda given, but just so you know… With unlimited autoresponder you can create one autoresponder for each product, or for each traffic source, etc. I thought 10 was enough, but currently I have more than 10… maybe 20… I think more..

Get an autoresponder that allows you to broadcast by groups or by segments.

For example, you want to send an email to people who answered only “Yes” to a custom question you created with your form. Or you want to send an email to subscribers who purchased from last month to this week.

Not all autoresponders have these feature, and it is one big reason I opened a Getresponse Account.

Get an autoresponder that allows you to filter subscribers by Custom Fields.

Well I thought autresponders have this feature by default. Apparantly not. Some autoresponders are very limited in filtering subscribers when you search.

Say you want to know how many subscribers who answered “Answer 1″ in your custom question, what you do is just specify to include your custom field when you do a subscibers search but most autoresponders only have “Finished, Pending, or Active” search filters. This means you have to click subscribers one by one just to know what their answers are.

It’s a hassle and kinda leaves me in the dark a bit if I don’t know how many people answered a specific question.

Fortunately Getresponse has great search filters!

hmmm… what else…

Although, I have Getresponse, I also suggest you get autoresponders like aweber, or th aweber resellers, or autoresponse plus or elite responder (for self hosted autoresponders) because they have the features I mentioned above and they specialized in the industry. Plus most programs would include integration to these autoresponders in their system. Like DLGuard for example, has an easy integration with Getresponse so that whenever somebody makes a purchase they are automatically added to your list in Getresponse with out signing up again.

Cool!

The time when I was searching for an autoresponder service, I tried to find one that accepted paypal since I didn’t hold a credit card yet at that time. I got a Norabots account for it’s price and for the support (my tickets gets answered).

Anyway, once I got hold of my own card (debit card, really) that has a VISA logo on it, I signed up for a Getresponse account. I would have used aweber, but they increased its pricing.

Anyway, while searching for the “best” autoresponder and autoresponders that accepted paypal, I stumbled upon other autoresponders services out there.

So here they are (Note: I can’t vouch on some autoresponders listed below. Just do your own due dilligence first.):

Well I just transferred this blog(creationspire.com) to a different webhost - Hostgator.

What I wanted to do was to move the blog to different webhost, but maintain the domain and domain structure.

It was not a one-run-transfer, though. I manually did some fixes.

What I did was first was copied the entire blog folder to my local computer, just in case.

Then while on the old blog:

1 - I navigated to Manage>Export, and exported the comments, pages, custom fields, categories, and tags.

2 - It created an xml file which I was to import in the new blog

On the new host:

1 - I added a new Addon Domain, which is creationspire.com, inside cpanel.

2 - I then created a new Wordpress installation via Fantastico using the same domain structure.

I encountered an error here which was something about not being able to install the same script on the root domain. Couldn’t remember the exact wordings.

To fix the error, I deleted a file inside .fantasticodata folder called installed_in_root.php and after that, wordpress was installed successfully on the new webhost.

3 - Inside the new blog admin panel, I then Imported the data from the old blog by going to Manage>Import>Wordpress.

No errors encountered here.

Now for the important part that tells the domain name its now sitting on the new host: The Name Servers.

After the above steps, I logged in my domain’s account and changed the nameservers to hostgator’s nameservers.

I then waited ’til the domain propagation was complete and voila! I just transferred my blog to a new host!

Some things to note:

1) Change the permalink settings for the new blog. I used the %postname% settings. I almost forgot to change it. :p

2) Upload the blog’s theme.

3) Re-add the sidebar widgets.

4) Delete the default “Hello World” post and “About” page.

5) Plugins : plugins are sometimes the main issues on why blog transfers yield errors. Since I wanted to restore some plugin stats, I just uploaded a fresh copy of the plugin to the plugin directory and imported the plugin database via phpmyadmin. I didn’t do this for all plugin installed, though.

I tried copying the entire directory and just pasting it on the new host, and importing the database, but while importing the database, I encountered some errors. So I just opted it to do the blog transfer as posted above.

I made a post a while back on how to create Big submit buttons for your optin forms. It’s pretty long because I showed you several sample codes and went on explaining certain things.

Anyway, here’s a shorter post on how to create Big Submit Buttons with borders.

Just copy and paste the codes.

1) Making the submit button text bigger, wider and bolder

Copy and Paste this inside the Submit Button’s tag:

?View Code HTML

1

style="font-size:20px;font-family:Arial;width:100%;height:40px;font-weight:bold;"

2) Adding borders on the submit button

Copy and Paste this inside the submit button’s

tag:

?View Code HTML

1

3) The Optin Box

If you want to place your form inside a box, copy and paste this code around your autoresponder code:

?View Code HTML

1

FTP the first time I used it was pretty intimidating and it was mainly because of the different folders inside the hosting account. I didn’t want to screw things up as things were foreign to me.

One thing I was asking myself was “Where on earth do I paste my files with all this folders around?”

The answer: Inside the public_html folder or www folder.

Locating public_html folder:

1 - Open up FileZilla
2 - On the upper area, you will see several fields where for your hosting account (e.g. Hostgator):

Input your:

a. Host - its usually ftp.yourwebsitename.com

b. Username - your username when you opened the hosting account

c. Password - the password when you opened your hosting account

d Port - put 21 or leave it blank

Hit “Quickconnect”, and it should start connecting to your account.

You should then see something similar below:

What folder you should paste files into?

It’s the public_html folder (or www folder, but I use public_html).

I don’t even know what the other folders mean.

Inside the public_html folder

When you open the public_html folder you should see other folders. If you have other domain names on your hosting account, then a folder under the domain name should also appear.

So if you registered www.mygreatdomainname.com then there should be a folder name mygreatdomainname inside your public_html folder and that is where you paste your files.

So if you pasted a html file called mywebpage.html then the url address would be http://mygreatdomainname.com/mywebpage.html

If you pasted the html file within a folder inside your domain folder, then the url address would be

http://mygreatdomainname.com/foldername/mywebpage.html.

That’s it.

You don’t need to be intimidated with the other folders, really.

Paste your files inside your domain folders via public_html.

For some reason, I find it easier, and much more comfortable using keyboard shortcuts. (Who doesn’t? :P)

Anyway, this shortcut allows me to access my most frequently visited sites by just inputting one letter on the url address bar.

I access my wordpress admin by pressing c on the url address bar.
I access youtube by hitting “yt”.
I access warriorforum by pressing w.
I access youtube search by inputting “y”+my search.
I access imdb search by inputting “i”+my search query.

So how do you do it?

Well, it’s known as firefox keyword bookmark shortcuts.
No, you don’t need a plugin or addon, only firefox and your saved bookmarks.

Basically how it works is, instead of having to type long url addresses, you can substitute that long url address with a letter or keyword which you set in the bookmark’s properties.

To set the bookmark’s properties:

1) Hit Ctrl+B to open up the bookmarks panel.

2) Right click on your bookmarks, and select properties:

3) Now, input a letter or keyword you want to associate that bookmark with and hit ok:

Now everytime I hit “y” on the url address, I get redirected automatically to youtube.
(Actually, I use “yt” for youtube and “y” for youtube search… this is just for demo purposes. :))

You can even use it for searching youtube for a video without visiting the youtube homepage.

Example, if I want to search youtube for funny videos, this is what I would type: y funny videos, and hit enter:

This is because I saved a bookmark for youtube search.

What’s the URL address for youtube search, imdb search, ebay search?

On the Location field, copy the following as the url:

Youtube Search:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%s&search_type=

So everytime you want to search music videos on youtube, you would type:

y music videos (depending on your keyword)

For imdb search, this is what I use:

http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=%s&x=0&y=0

So If would want to see reviews or info on Iron Man, I would type:

i iron man

on the url address bar and it will automatically redirect me to search results for Iron Man.

For ebay search, this is what I use:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=%s&category0=

So, what types of sites would you want to apply a shortcut?

Your wp-admin login page.
Your most visited forum.
Your most visited video site.
Your most visited blogs.
Youtube search, google search, forum search, ebay search, etc
A lyrics site.
In other words, your most visited sites!

Go try it!
It’s easy and wouldn’t take much of your time!

================
To bookmark a page,
1 - You can press Ctrl+D
2 - Or you can drag and drop the url address to your bookmarks panel:

Wouldn’t it be great if Windows Explorer allowed tabbing? You know, like firefox, where you press Ctrl+T and it opens up a new browser tab for you without creating another window?

Fortunately, there are two neat little apps that I really like that does just this, only that it’s for one’s file management needs.

I’ve been using this app ever since I was searching for an easier way to transfer and copy/paste files from directory to another.
These apps made my copy-pasting of files so hassle free. Now I don’t have to press Alt+Tab and navigate several explorer windows, or hit backspace several times to paste files. With these apps, I could just open up several tabs and copy, or drag, files from one directory to another!

They are called Free Commander and xplorer2 lite, a great, great windows explorer alternative!

Although there are others, I find these two to be the best.

Free Commander is Free and xplorer2 has a lite version.

Free Commander: Here’s how Free Commander looks:

Some observations:
1 - Ctrl+T : Opens up a new tab
2 - You can click on the empty space beside the tabs to open up a new tab.
3 - Double-clicking on a tab closes it.
4 - You can save your “favorite” directory by going to Folder>Favorites>Edit.
4b - You can open your favorite directory by hitting Ctrl+Shift+1 (or other numbers)
5 - You can click the folder in the Directory Address located directly below the tabs to go back to that folder.

Free Commander is packed with heck a lotta features for you to explore and you’d be surprise that its free!

Download Free Commander here (~2mb).

Xplorer2 Lite: Here’s how Xplorer2 lite looks:

Tips:
1 - Ctrl+Insert opens up a new tab.
2 - You can click on the empty space beside the tabs to open up a new tab.
3 - Double-clicking on a tab closes it. Also done by hitting Ctrl+F4.
4 - To place the folder tabs on top (by default, they are at the bottom), go to Tools>Options>Advanced and check Folder Tabs On Top.
5 - To edit the ftp settings(yes, theres a built-in FTP!), go to Bookmarks>Organize and edit to your ftp settings.
6 - xplorer2’s version of “favorties” is called “Bookmarks”, where you can save your current opened folder for a one-click access via the Bookmarks menu.
7 - You can also click the folder in the Directory Address located directly below the tabs to go back to that folder.

Click here to download xplorer2 lite (~1mb).

So, which should you use?

If I’ve only used these apps for a short time, at first I would definitely say Free Commander, hands down! For a free application, it makes other paid windows explorer alternatives look like a rip off! lol.

But, the funny thing is, though, I find myself much more comfortable using xplorer2 lite. I’ve observed that the response time in opening folders is much faster compared to Free Commander. Maybe its just me? I also find the folder tree in xplorer lite to be a great convenience.

But hey, they are both free and I recommend you try them! It will make your file navigating journeys much shorter and you’re file management a breeze!

I’m not kidding, try them now!
